Why I Am Missional

Failure to be missional is to deny the gospel. Strong words? Perhaps, but if we believe the gospel at all we must be missional.

What is meant by being missional? Emergent Village defines being missional this way, “Missional: Because we believe that the call of the gospel is an outward, apostolic call into the world.” Every Christian is called to be missional - a fact that far too often is lost with the customary segregation of lay Christians vs. vocational ministers and missionaries.

Nonetheless, the Scriptures assume that people of God will be living out their faith in real and tangible ways. Jesus final statements recorded in the Gospels and in the first chapter of Acts take the general tone of assuming that his followers will be out engaging their world and ministering the love of Christ to them. To be missional is not an option for any true disciple of Jesus Christ.
